Company Description

TLM started their work in Nepal in 1957 with the establishment of Anandaban Hospital in Lele. Since 2005, TLM Nepal has been working as an independent NGO in partnership with TLM International and the government of Nepal. TLM Nepal’s country leader is Shovakhar Kandel. TLM Nepal’s FOUND (Fueling Opportunities to end Unemployment for Nepalis with Disability) Project aims to support 2,500 unemployed skilled people with disabilities from five economic hub districts of Nepal to find and thrive in formal or self-employment. The HEAL project provides cutting edge treatments and care to end suffering and disability caused by leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF). They further seek to reduce leprosy incidence in high prevalence districts by providing single doses of rifampicin, the anti-leprosy drug, as a preventative treatment to those in close contact with someone recently diagnosed with leprosy. The Mycobacterial Research Laboratory is one of the world’s few highly professional research facilities dedicated to leprosy where TLM Nepal undertakes cutting-edge research. TLM Nepal also works in developing disaster resilient communities by training thousands of health workers and volunteers from all over Nepal in disaster response. TLM provides training on group management and income generation to self-help groups for people with leprosy. They encourage these groups to undertake small projects in their local communities to help change attitudes and develop a normal level of participation in society.
